Where are you based and where do you live?
Just wondering how many of you commute back to your home country. For example being based at LHR and living in Brussels, Amsterdam, Rome, ...
I'd also love to know which roster you are on and if the commute is worth the effort.
Thanks in advance

I skip breakfast. On a more serious note: the purpose of this question is to get an idea of future commuting prospects / possibilities. But I thank you for your reply (mockery) anyway.

dont worry about topspotter,he's anything but. he's been banned from this site more times than i can remember, topspotter is his latest guise,he used to post as simonchowder and kevlarkarl. his only aim is to wind people up on here. wont be long till the mods pick up on him and ban him again..
back to the op.
a lot will depend on the individual's pov. for example a friend of mine is a man based capt. but very often finds that he has to commute to various airports in the uk on a regular basis to take his flight. and he hates having to do it.

Personally, it takes me less time to get from home to the staff car park than it does from the staff car park to the briefing room. It's perfect for me and my family. But I work for a short/medium haul charter outfit and expect to be in my own bed every night.
The guy who got me in to aviation lives in Munich but is based in south east Asia. Granted he is chief training captain for that airline, but many senior skippers in his airline live over 5000 miles from moon base alpha. (their words not mine)
As for topspotter, all children grow up eventually.

Some long haul pilots can live very far away. The furthest I have encountered is someone living in Sydney on a Manchester (UK!) base. Getting rest before operating is the trick, but on a long haul schedule, there is scope.
And I think breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Good question Topspotter!

Not so far (geographically) but, it is, and always will be, a pain in the ass, as you are at the mercy of someone else, perhaps some other airline too, or just driving too much if not flying home.
So far I have managed Paris (living) commuting to BRU/MXP/LGW/CRL/GRO,
Girona (living) commuting to ALG/ RIX.
My advice. . . don't, the woman you are sh@gging is where you are commuting FROM, and if you sh@g the women where you commute TO , the woman where you commute FROM will become history.
This can, of course, be a good thing, sometimes, but it is complicated/exhausting/expensive in many cases.
Avoid if at all possible, and yes, unfortunately for me, looks like I may have to update this list again
