No, not even close! The most awesome passenger aircraft ever was the Concorde, followed by the VC-10, followed by the B-747. The B-777 is some way off from those with some newer technology granted!

Since then Airbus A380 and A350 XWB probably even better. B787 Dreamliner if it stops catching fire is nice also!

All the big twins look similar, only one winner ( by a country mile ) CONCORDE even non aviation people used to look up when she flew over.

It`s a very personal question as everybody have different ideas of greatest, but
in my opinion the B777 is very good looking and sounds the part too but
the B787 will never match it, A350 well I missed it at Paris so time will tell.
Looks, economy of operation, whether the crews enjoy flying it and passengers
also and just plain does it do the job without problems or breaking down.
How do you compare a B777 a DC3 and a Lancaster? you can`t

Greatest range? By what criteria?

777-200LR has the greatest FERRY range (well, maybe 1 SLF). From here in flyover country, there is exactly ONE major international airport it cannot reach nonstop. And that airport is Perth.

But who wants to go to Perth, anyway?

777 - 200LR

Greatest gift of flying non stop on a route that Shaved off 8/10 hours on a trip I take 4 times a year. That is almost 2 days of my life back per year for the past 8 years! Besides who wants to transit at LHR!
