Orbit or 360 turn in Europe?

Hello all,

reading some ICAO documents i saw the term Orbit. In the past i had asked a friend of mine who is an ATPL(A) holder what is the proper phraseology used in Europe and he told me that Orbit is not used in Europe, only the right/left turn 360 degrees. So what is the correct one? Furthermore, in Europe are ICAO phraseology used or JAR? I am a bit confused

Regards
Sam

I used to say "Circle left/right", which most pilots understood.. Then there's "Make a right/left turn all the way round...."

...or as a navigator was rumoured to have said

"I think we'd better do a 360 and get the hell out of here"

Thanx for your replies, so "according the books" is it wrong to say orbit? Someone flying in Europe should follow ICAO or JAR SOP?

In the UK either "orbit" or "three-sixty" are acceptable.
