Maybe initials of owners or someone important
Best reg i've dealt with was a 737-300 at TEA UK, came in at so short notice after Air Europe collapse. Getting it sorted with the CAA etc, engineers with sense of humour chose the reg G-NAFH (Not a F**king Hope) of it being ready

Second aircraft followed G-DIAR - situation was just that, no crew to
fly them
