A320 T.O. Shift

Hiya Chaps,

Please could an Airbus pilot explain what TO Shift is/means when viewed in the MCDU? I only need a brief explaination really, and also what would be a typical setting? I fly this aircraft, virtually, quite a lot and, as I dont know what TO Shift is, I usually enter a setting on 1 ! So it would be nice to find out once and for all what it is. I'm of course assuming it means takeoff shift, and perhaps the shift being something to do with weight but as said, am not sure.

Many thanks

Rory

The search function has real uses, not just virtual ones.
