Another 'expert' story from the Sun

Pilot has atlas in cockpit | The Sun |News

Is anyone else amazed by the stupidity of this story? I can't decide who's worse, the thick passenger, or the Sun itself making a story out of this!

I often wondered how intrepid pilots found there way around... but then I rembered the story of the BEA pilot who, when asked by an elderly lady passenger how he found his way in the dark, pointed out of one window and said "See that red light?".. and out of the other window. "See that green light?" "Yes" said the lady". "Well, we just fly the aeroplane between them...."

I once flew a fam flight in the cockpit of an Air Europe B737 and the captain (who was an Aussie) had his schoolboy atlas (British Empire in pink ) with him to inform the pax where we were in terms that they would understand. They wouldn't understand that they were "comin' over Kumanova" (which I seem to remember was in Yugoslavia?)

Nice to see that red-top aviation journalism is up to its usual standard - certainly makes a pleasant change to Royal Wedding storiezzzzzzz........

In the days when one could visit the flight deck, I went up front for a visit on a Virgin A340 with my kids.

The captain showed them where we were with his blow up globe!
