A320 manual trim

Hello guys and ladies,

I'm a pc pilot currently flying the Wilco A320 and have a small problem and wondered if its possible in the real aircraft. I'm disabling the autopilot on approach and flying manually, the problem is, I'm unable to adjust the pitch trim manually. I've disabled the ELAC computers but still cant do any manual input. How is it done in the real aircraft? Am I just supposed to still let the auto trim handle the attitude and just control the speed? Any help would be appreciated.

thanks,

Rory

''I'm disabling the autopilot on approach and flying manually, the problem is, I'm unable to adjust the pitch trim manually. I've disabled the ELAC computers but still cant do any manual input.'''

The aircraft will auto trim in Normal and Alternate laws. It's only in Direct Law will you need to trim - this is indicated by the message ''Use Man Pitch Trim'' displayed in amber on the PFD. I think (but am not sure) that disabling both ELACs will still leave you in Alternate law. Turning off both FACs will put it into Direct Law in the real aircraft - I don't know how realisitc your sim is so I can't guarentee it will work.

''Am I just supposed to still let the auto trim handle the attitude and just control the speed?''

You select the attitude with the sidestick and let the autotrim do it's stuff.

Many thanks for your help Dan. I turned off both FAC's and I was able to manually trim the aircraft although the sim didnt give me the message on the PFD. The sim is supposed to be quite good and realistic, but then a lot of them make such claims! To be fair though, it is quite a comples and realistic seeming simulation.

To get into direct law, 2 FAC's off AND gear down required...
