HKG photography 07R

I've seen some pretty spectacular photos from HKG, particularly on approach to 07R, which is closest to Lantau Island.

Some examples:

Photos: Boeing 747-412(BDSF) Aircraft Pictures | Airliners.net
Photos: Airbus A300F4-605R Aircraft Pictures | Airliners.net
Photos: Airbus A330-343X Aircraft Pictures | Airliners.net

I'd love to have the opportunity to get here and I've looked at how best to do it; there is a site which explains how to reach some of the locations for spotting, but the access to the island seems quite difficult and includes a very short "ferry" journey to the Sha Lo Wan public pier.

Has anyone done this? Alternatively, is it possible to get to the photo locations by taking a taxi from Tung Chung?

Hi Akerosid.

The B747-412 landing on 07R is actually TF-AMI, owned by Air Atlanta Icelandic, ACMI wet lease to Saudi Arabian.

There are only 2 ways to get to the Sha Lo Wan ferry pier.
1. Catch the Tai O ferry from the Tung Chung Development Pier, near the bridge from Tung Chung to Chek Lap Kok.
or,
2. I prefer to walk via the the Yat Tung estate complex following the path via San Tau to Sha Lo Wan Chung Hau. Just before you get to SLWCH take the path to the right (signpost for the ferry) for about 500M and bob's your uncle. There are a couple of other viewing points along this route too. From the Tung Chung MTR this really nice hike would only take 1 hour max through some quaint old HKG villages.

Cheers JO.
