BA Cairo Flights to land at ATH for tech stops. (And other 'breathless' stuff)

Just heard that British Airways Cairo flights BA 155/ BA 154 are to land at ATH for tech stops (including crew change) as of Monday 31 Jan until the curfew at Cairo is lifted(and I guess owing to the current escalating violence and the uncertainty that exists).

What's your source? Last I heard from several sources was that the flights are re-rostered as round trip LHR-CAI-LHR with no crew change.

This will be to :-

A . Be able to tanker fuel so that when the fuel runs out / bowser drivers are unavailable due turmoil , the aircraft can at least get back to Athens .

B . It relieves FTL probs if turnrounds become long and drawn out.

C. No crew have to nightstop ie leave Cairo airport .

D . All beeswax anyway , the way things are going tonight it will not be long before airspace/ airports close . Endgame approaches .I doubt that my Cairo next Friday will operate at all.

Guess it is in the region.
Actually BA did something similar a few years ago with
their LHR-TLV-LHR flights for a short while.

Egypt evac flights

Evidently tour companies are going to evacuate tourists from Egypt, even from the (so far) calm areas of Hurghada and Sharm el Sheikh
A bit of extra fuel is adviced. Egypt is not the easiest destination even when everything is normal.

Good luck!

It seems that other European/American operators are doing the same recently

British Airways is operating now through LGAV/ATH
Air france is operating now through OLBA/BEY
Delta Airlines is operation now through LIRF/FCO

Anybody else ?
