Grrr SIA Engine Change.

There is something missing when SIA state two days ago after inspecting their A380's "Absolutely no findings of concern" but when the aircraft are inspected at MEL, SYD, & LHR presumably by non SQ engineers, it is necessary to change three engines, precautionary or not.

So you're assuming SIA engineers don't what they're doing? BTW SIA 380's I believe maintained by AB and RR some sort of package.

Maybe if the QF engineers had carried out the EN issued by RR in August they would not have their engines going poof!

Oh wait a minute.. QF don't do any maintenance on their AC's! Its outsourced and I believe the 380's are done in LAX along with their 747's. Hey wait a minute didn't their 747 also have an engine failure?

So must be the Americans behind it all!

For God's sake grow up and get over your anti SIA/Asian sentiments, some of them actually know how to run an airline!

Most likely something new has been found on QF inspections that was not "looked for" on early SQ inspections.

I guess it will be a 3 engine ferry flight to SIN...

Edit: Something wrong with the board? My message ends up in between posts?

So now that SQ are flying the in-question three aircraft back to Singapore, does anyone know if that engine would have been used normally in that flight or would it have been used differently. Please, no flaming.

I presume if the plane carries no passengers, it weighs less. If it weighs less, you need less fuel for the journey. If you need less fuel for the journey, your take-off weight is lower. If your take-off weight is lower, you need less thrust to take-off and climb, etc...
