Continental Airlines Flight 20/21

Hi all,

This is my first post on these forums, I hope it's in the right forum! I did try to search too, honest!

When I was younger, I flew to EGCC-KEWR a few times, to visit my Dad. Unfortunately, I did not have as much of an interest in aviation as I do now, and didn't bother to record the registrations, or even type of plane I went on. Looking at my old passports, I have the following US immigration stamps:

24/10/1998
23/12/1999
12/08/2000
23/12/2000

The above of course are dates of entry. I seem to remember having been on a 777 before, presumably it was one of the above flights. Does anyone have any idea what aircraft Continental were using on/around the above dates, for flight 20/21?

Actually, one of the above dates is from Heathrow, but I don't know which. I'm fairly certain this was a BA flight too, and was definately to Newark. If anyone can deduce what aircraft this was too, I will be impressed!

I hope someone can help! The only reason I thought twice about this is because my girlfriend recently flew COA21 and said it was a 757, and I definately remember it was a widebody that I flew on - that's when I did a bit of searching and notice they started using 757's around mid-2005. I've often wondered why (of course lower demand, but again, not sure why!).

Thanks in advance (hopefully not apologies in advance!)

JG.

Edit: come to think of it, I have a suspicion that the 1998 one is the odd one out, and is likely to be the BA flight from Heathrow.

Hi JG321,

The CO20/21 service was changed to B757-200 equipment when a second daily flight (CO100) was introduced alongside it. Both are B757-200 services. In the past, CO20/21 has been operated by DC10, B767-400, B777-200 equipment at various times. I am sure that some of the local enthusiast groups retain records of movements for the dates you require. CO20/21 will be easy to identify, but of course it will be up to you to deduce which date you flew with BA!

You could try posting on the "Spectator's Balcony" forum just below this one; also google "TAS Manchester" - this will put you in touch with the largest local enthusiasts group. Their archived magazines will certainly have the CO details from the dates you require. Finally, if you go to yahoo groups and look up "manchesterspotters2" there will be folks on there who are very helpful as well. You may need to subscribe to join the latter e.mail list, but it is free.

Good luck.

Hi,

Many thanks for your reply, it was very useful! I've joined the mailing list, just awaiting confirmation now. I've come across TAS Manchester recently, I like their arrival/departure logs!

I did see the other forum and considered posting in there.. I'll try and link to this post now to avoid cross-posting.

Thanks again,

Jon

Not much help maybe, but I flew MAN-EWR-MAN on CO20/21 in January 2000 and it was def a B777-200 then.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply; that actually is helpful, as I thought it was a 777 that I flew on in 2000, so that pretty much confirms it.

I remember it being a widebody as I was flying alone and had a spare seat next to me (I remember being in the centre aisle). I saw some people up ahead complaining at the flight attendant about not sitting together so I offered to move, as I was travelling alone! The FA couldn't believe it, she was like "are you sure, are you sure". She thanked me by moving me to first class!

I do kinda hate her for that though, getting to fly first class on your own when 14 makes the high density charter configs that I'm much more likely to encounter these days seem even more unbearable!

Thanks again!

Jon
