Bradford Question
I know it's probably the wrong forum (in fact I know it is, but I have some pride left) but I was outside at about 1210 today and saw what I'm quite certain was a widebody jet fairly low overhead, it was pretty cloudy but was below that level and was very audible. I considered that it could be a Jet2 757 but it looked too wide and generally large and the noise was more of a roar than the 75's distinctive whine. This is South Bradford and I'm used to seeing LBA arrivals and departures overhead, maybe I was seeing things, any ideas anyone??

Your eyes are not deceiving you.What you are seeing is a lot of airlines operating to North America flying directly overhead Leeds and Bradford at the moment. Also lots of the European airlines doing the same.Some of the Upper Airway Routes pass over both Leeds and Bradford.These routes are used by aircraft flying up to Scotland and beyond.Hope this helps you.

Aye I know, I thought this was much lower than cruise altitude though, as in arriving or more likely departing. Anyway, there we are.

Easyjet and BA seem to be using the LBA overhead on their way to Newcastle. One easyjet I saw passed overhead at 16 thousand feet last week.
These could be what you are seeing.The ones using the upper airway routes are flying mostly between 30 to 38 thousand feet.

If you want to know what aircraft are passing over.
Visit: www.flightradar24.com
This shows all aircraft around europe as well as planes entering european airspace.
This will let you know whats also passing leeds/bradford.

I think I saw this too from my back garden, looked like a 777-300 (Emirates logo on the underwing fuselage) and was approx 8-10000 feet up going North West. Stand to be corrected!
