Devil MOD Airbridge Flights

Could not fail to notice the Air Italy 767 in Teeside yesterday on the MOD work

Surely there must be a uk carrier to do the work since the demise of Globespan?

Cant imagine the the Italiens handing work to a UK operator for shifting their troops

would it be anything to do with the EU tendering process were govt agencies have to put a contract out for tender once it goes over a certain price.

MOD rates are pitiful.I know my company looked at the Falklands work when Globespan failed we,ve held the contract before, the conclusion was the work was unviable at the rates on offer. How to go broke easily....!! work best avoided.A sad reflection on the value the MOD gives its front line forces.

No because Govt military tendering is not unsurprisingly outside the scope of EU tendering.

Lowest cost will be the prime aim. Arrow Air 1285 in 1985 shows at what level cost is considered

With the current exchange rates, I find it difficult to believe that European operators can undercut UK based companies. Maybe it does have more to do with available capacity mid term.

Will there really be enough A330 air tankers to cover troop flights and cover the work of the VC-10s and L-1011s as tankers.

I have also heard that LuzAir 767 and Hifly A310 have operated these flights recently.
