Plane makes emergency landing due to fumes
An American Airlines plane made an emergency landing in Iceland Tuesday after passengers complained of fumes in the cabin, an airline representative told CNN.
American Airlines Flight 49, a Boeing 767-300, was bound for Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas, from Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris, France, said Tim Smith, an airlines spokesman in Dallas.
It landed around 1:50 p.m. local time (9:50 a.m. ET) with 133 passengers and 12 crew on board, Smith said.
Fumes of some type were reported on board, he said, adding that it was standard procedure for such aircraft to be looked over. Paramedics were meeting the plane for anyone feeling ill, he said.
