Can anyone let me know when the last Comet flew please?

I have a friend who says he saw one in the Bournemouth/Poole area yesterday (24th March)

I think he may have seen a Nimrod.

A quick search and I think it was Oct 30th 1997 from Boscombe Down to Bruntingthorpe.

Nimrod was doing what looked like practice hold entries at about 4-5,000 feet over Bournemouth yesterday.

by 1975 dan air were the last commercial operator of the comet,the last one was retiered from the fleet early 1982.
the last flying example was xs235 (g-cpda)'canopus' of the royal aircraft establishment.its still kept in working order however not flying.
as silenthandover says 30th oct 1997 was its last flight into bruntingthorpe nr leicester.

Silent: if you look through the old logbooks in the training room, I logged the final departure of XV914 to Boscombe in about 1995.
