Lufthansa A340-600 at LHR on dec 22

Tomorrow, tuesday december 22nd, Lufthansa will be operating flights LH4724/4725 (FRA-LHR-FRA) with an Airbus A340-600!

sta LH4724 (callsign 2RW) 09:05
std LH4725 (callsign 8U) 09:50

Anybody around taking pictures? IŽll be sitting in the very front righthand seat!

I guess weŽre operating these flights with the 340 to pick up passengers left stranded by the Eurostar. (Wrong type of snow??? )

If you land on 09L, look out the right just before you go over the M25 & I'll be in our warehouse yard waving back!!!

Cheers

Well, since I donŽt hold a 747-400 typequalification and I am scheduled to do this trip, I suppose the other website has some incorrect information. At this moment, A346 D-AIHF is planned for this flight.

However, I have some sincere doubts whether weŽll make the 45 minute turnaround! The schedule is based on a narrowbody Airbus. Well, a bit of delay is nothing new in Heathrow! (On January 8th 2003, we had a delay of almost 5 hours out of LHR on a 737, waiting for a de-ice truck!)

Hopefully more luck this time, see you tomorrow.

PS: ok, the other website wasnŽt so incorrect after all. On wednesday, these same flights will be operated by a B747-400.

Thanks for the picture! Zoom in to see me smile! It was fun flying to Heathrow for a change. The flight itself went quite well, we didnŽt even have to fly in the Lambourne hold! Only, after landing, we had to wait for 50 minutes (!) for gate 127 to be cleared. And then we really had to squeeze the A346 on the stand, not much space left!

As expected, the turnaround took a bit longer than 45 minutes but there were no major problems.

In all, it was a nice change to fly shorthaul again!

BTW, to fly to LHR with longhaul equipment was planned because of the intended strike at BA. When that didnŽt happen it started to snow, so LH decided to keep the 346 and 744 for these flights.
