Jet2 - cheap to AMS - pity about the return
Jet2 from LBA to AMS in Jan 2010 £0.99. Return same day £0.99.
I live close to LBA and fancied a day trip to do a bit of spotting and photography. But what about the charges!!! Well £2.00 for the outbound trip but £31.00 for the return. With check-in and card charges call it total all in £45.00.
I guess that the return charges are so high because Jet2 have got you captive in a foreign country.
Do Jet2 have a Dutch web site which makes charges the other way round and then I could book the return as if it was a single from Holland.
Cheers Mike

That's the AMS charges I'm afraid. The Dutch imposed heavy environment taxes a couple of years ago, so that's where you should direct your frustration. However, as has previously been said, you can't complain at £45 return to AMS however it's made up.

One is astonished! Does he think Jet2 keeps all the money? Quibbling over £45 return to AMS. Take a reality check! Who are these people we are sweating to take places when they get upset at 99pence each way fares? Can you believe it?

Don't think that's unreasonable myself.Still a damn sight cheaper than the only other option from LBA,namely KLM.
If you got the bus to Leeds, train to London, tube to Heathrow and vice versa probably be more expensive as a day trip?.

Zetland, you are missing the point. you come across as a total plonker.
Hmm......£31 return. Outrageous, isn't it? Brune and the Dutch government are keeping about £25 of that return fare. Shall we start a petition to Jet 2 about overcharging you for a £6 ticket (for them) for return?
Is it true when they say Yorkshire men can show the Scottish all about being mean? This will really shock you- when I flew Southampton-Leeds 5 years ago, return fare was about £225! Last September, about £125. Come into the real world and praise Jet2!
I could say words fail me, but they don't. But I am flabbergasted. I hadn't realised there were still people like you about, these days. Air travel is wasted on so many people now. But don't worry, it is increasingly being used as a government revenue stream under a pretence of 'green taxes'! Enjoy it while you have it, because Brune will soon stop you by pricing it away from you ('so Tuvalu doesn't sink'). As far as I am concerned, Tuvalu is going down like the Titanic anyway, whether unnecessary cargo like you fly to AMS or not, so Bye Bye Tuvalu!

Quite right Rainboe, ignoramuses such as zetland really do get my goat if they knew anything about the cost and effort thats incurred flying him, his knapsack, spotting book and camera to AMS and back again he would quickly realise that 45 quid return is a amazing bargain and the industry should be congratulated for making it possible, how prices are kept as low as they are when one considers the cost of operating aircraft is beyond me.
