New Departure/Arrival Routes
Flying from Luton back in August the Captain told us that after take off we would be following the new departure route which involved a fairly quick left turn after departure (from 26) before turning right again towards Reading (Compton??). At the time I did not know that the new routes had started. However recently I heard that the decision to implement the aforementioned had been delayed. So is this a "special" new SID? As an aside the outgoing captain was very informative regarding sights to be seen in the UK, even shortly after take off when his workload must have been high. On the return, cockpit crew were completely opposite giving hardly any info at all. I appreciate that there is no given right for pax to be informed, just seemed a bit strange that I had such differing experience with the same airline.

Hi,
All SID's from 26 are required to turn on to a heading of 215 at 500ft for noise abutment.
From what you described it seems you were following the standard Compton 3B departure.
As far as I’m aware there have been no new departures added.
Thanks
Ben Leonard

Thanks Ben. It has been a few years (2-3?) since Iwas on an aircraft departing 26 at Luton. At that time it "appeared" to just about be keeping on track before turning left for Southampton. Thanks again. IL
