Aurigny ATR - Gatwick

Does anyone know what went wrong with the Aurigny ATR late morning flight from Gatwick to Guernsey the other day?
The paper reports it went to the runway then returned. Apparently the main runway was closed for 20 minutes??

Smell of burning in the cabin. Full evacuation on the Northern Runway whilst it was taxiing to the Juliet holds. Passengers and crew were a tad too close to the clear and graded area of the active runway so movements were stopped until they were coached to the terminal. No flights diverted just held in the stacks.

My daughter was on the aircraft when it landed into Gatwick from Guernsey and said she heard a loud bang as the undercarriage came down - not the normal undercarriage noise. There was a sharp whine from one of the engines as it started to descend and then it landed very heavily. She did not think it was a normal descent or landing.

She has been aircrew.

One of many problems maybe. It was not a good day for Aurigny, the early morning departure from LGW was cancelled due to a tech A/C, the passengers were re-booked onto the above flight which was cancelled and then both flights were combined onto the earlier tech A/C.

thanks

I suspected that
Last time they had smoke in the cabin I believe it was a ballast in a neon tube lighting unit overheating.
