Bournemouth Aircraft Viewing Park

From UK Airport News

Not seen this reported before. This means that 3 of the 4 MAG airports have viewing parks of one sort or another. Now all they need is some more aircraft movements!

Bournemouth Airport opens official viewing area

13.09.09
Responding to requests from local aircraft enthusiasts and visitors, Bournemouth Airport has opened an official viewing area. The new viewing area offers unrivalled views of the eastern end of the runway and provides visitors with a safe environment in which to enjoy their visit.
As well as providing ample car parking, there is also a small picnic area to help families make the most of their visit to the airport. Commenting on this new viewing area, Rob Goldsmith, Managing Director of Bournemouth Airport said: ‘Due to the current economic climate we have seen a drop in demand for additional car park spaces, so it was an ideal opportunity to give our visitors the viewing area they have been asking for. We have a wide range of aircraft using the airport – from small two seaters through to commercial jets – so there is always something going on and I’m confident that it will prove popular.’
The airport viewing area is open every day and the entry fee for a car (including driver and all passengers) costs just £4. Pedestrians can access the viewing area for free. To get to the viewing area, take the road past the terminal building and follow the signs.

If you like looking through a 7 foot high wire fence that is. Certainly wont be paying 4 quid for that privilege.

TBH, it's not a patch on the old Aviation Museum viewing area when they were in hangar 600.
At least there you didn't have a huge fence obstructing your view, it was cheaper to enter and you got to look around the museum and have a nose at what DHA were up to.
Sadly missed!

So the airport provide a dedicated new viewing area close to the runway with parking, and all you can do is moan? The fence is clearly a security requirement.

I'm merely pointing out that the new area isn't a patch on the old museum viewing area, which had better views and you got more for your money.

If the museum hadn't been thrown out to make way for a car park (that doesn't seem to be happening now) there wouldn't be a need for this new area.
If people want to pay £4 to stand behind a 7ft foot fence then that's fine by me.

However, I'd sooner give the new aviation museum over the road my money and view from the top deck of their bus which overlooks the runway.
A much more deserving cause imo.
