Today at East Midlands

Hope you don't mind a couple of questions:

Drove past EMA this morning, 11.15ish - did I see a DHL freighter goaround? Seemed to get a long way down, then lost sight briefly, then saw it heading up and out east over the M1.

Then coming back up the M1, 16:25ish, we saw another DHL taking off east, but seemed to be being escorted above and behind by a much smaller plane. Don't think it was an optical illusion (they seemed to travel together a hell of a long way) - colleague had a much better view than me as I was driving!

Just curious, that's all
Thanks in advance

Rumour has it a coach load of nuns had strayed onto the runway and mayhem was only narrowly avoided thanks to the lightning reactions of the heroic pilot, hence the go around

Thank you! Did think it was a smart-ish plane for DHL.

Oh, and hope it all worked out okay for the nuns.

EMA is used for a lot of base training so it is not unusual to see go-arounds, touch and go landings and large aircraft in the circuit at relatively low altitude.

I was up there for a bit this afternoon, and did a flyby at EMA, at about 1,000ft ish... with a smaller jet type thing, I do not no what it was, then flew out to PIK.

think it was a meteor which had come in to do some air to air stuff whilst the 767 went to PIK and back. Loads of hassle getting the crew through security AFTER they came in through security. Both Airline crew with I.D.s - Rules are Rules
