Aircraft Illustrated

Ok, but if it ain't broke why change it?

Not much modern military news now it seems to me.

Seems to have moved too far in the historical direction and becoming too similar to other mags like Flypast.

Shocking decision by those in charge of the magazine. Had a sneek feeling that it would change when Ben Durnell became editor. It began featuring a lot more historical articals before the change was announced.

Me personally, I liked the mag because it had a good mix of military & civil.

I definalty won't be buying the new version!

Aircraft Illustrated gone wrong

I have been buying this magazine off and on since 1980. The last edition is definitely the last one I will buy. I used to enjoy the mix of military and civil news along with some cracking pictures. The world does not need any more classic/preservation magazines , God knows there are enough already. Is Air International still going ? Could be the way forward.

May I suggest Airliner World to you guys? I read in now instead of AI. I swapped about a year ago. Never looked back.

Trouble with Airliner World is it is full of errors - especially in their "historical" articles.

Don't much care about the the errors in Airliner World. Love the pictures. Fabulous picture of A340 over Maho beach, St. Maarten in the latest. Achieved one of my last outstanding ambitions and stood there 22 months ago. Lovely place!!!. One more ambition to achieve. Any one know Natascha Kaplinsky's number????

She said it would, she prefers more refined people, like myself from the wilds of the Fens

We are all right then Avitor. I used to live on the edge of Wicken fen, in Wicken itself, now living in Chedburgh, Bury St Edmunds. Please put a good word in for me with Christine. My wife [who is extremely good looking,] says anyone can have her number for a large fee!!!!.

Answering Navpi

I was a subscriber to Aircraft Illustrated for many years (having purchased it regularly from when it was first launched). The change was very disappointing duplicating almost exactly the coverage of Flypast (which I also buy regularly and have no intention of changing).

As a result of the change I cancelled my subscription and Ian Allan refunded the unexpired portion of my subs - from the conversation with the staff there I was one of many.

I have since tried Air Enthusiast and found its broad coverage akin to the old Aircraft Illustrated.
