A380
the A380 is coming to man on 9th sept for trial's with ramp handler's/catering/cleaner's and refuel. It will also load and off load pax. I believe it to be airbus example and not one from EK as their a/c is going to bhx on the same day. I will update as and when i get more info,as i will be involved on the day.

Why are they operating an A380 when no one's suggested they're gonna fly it to MAN? They'll get a third daily B777 surely?
Think it sounds like a spoiler for BHX's big day does that!

The date apparently pencilled in is the 7th and will almost certainly be an Airbus test aircraft (perhaps F-WWDD, the one that performed a fly-by).
2010 looks like year the A380 will be on EK17/EK18. Some suggest as early as Jan but I'd be more tempted by saying October.
Apparently the 3rd flgiht will be in addition to the A380. I hope they got for 2 A330s and an A380 rather than 2 777s and an A380 as I don't envisage that fillng an extra 1200 seats a day at the moment.

if there's no need for a trial at BHX it's because it's very unlikely to have regular operations there for the short to medium term so the powers that be can formulate a one-off plan.
As for the viability of the A380, please ask the question in 10 to 15 years time as by then it should be halfway through it's production output....it's an aircraft for 2015 onwards that's available today and exceeding what was proposed when originally envisaged despite being slightly overweight.
