Upgraded Hawk With Missile ?

Hi,

I havn't seen a Hawk with a missile before and this one seems to have a different nose.

unfortunatley it was too far away to get the reg.

Is it one of the recently announced upgraded Hawk?

Flying in LFA 7(T)

Mmmmm ... it may be my dim eyes/brain but that looks like some sort of recce pod or ventral tank.

If you put your original pic in a reasonable graphics prog you will read the reg. The only reason I can't is because the picture has lost some quality due to compression...

If one applies logical analysis to the statement

I havn't seen a Hawk with a missile before and this one seems to have a different nose.
The two halves of the sentence are not mutually dependent, so the statement is TRUE (assuming the OP is not a liar.)

If you like mind games.....

It's a Hawk T.2, some of which have already been delivered to the RAF. There are lots of photos of them on the Internet and yes, they have several different external features to the original RAF Hawk T.1s.

Cheers All ,

Sorry, don't know a lot of tech stuff

No Missle but ventral tank recce - pod, Thanks

- Havn't seen a Hawk with one of those either , before!

The pic is 100% crop and I just can't get the reg on the original ( must get better editor) - it was taken at 400mm (620mm equiv)

Not an intentional liar

And Yes! I should have found some pics of the new one.

Hawk with missiles

"I havn't seen a Hawk with a missile before "

Youngsters these days, eh ......... see here and from WIKIpedia.....

"From 1983 to 1986, some Hawks were equipped as the short-range interceptor aircraft for point defence. Eighty-eight T.1s were modified to carry two AIM-9L Sidewinder air-to-air missiles in addition to the centerline gun pod carrying a single 30 mm ADEN cannon. These aircraft were designated Hawk T1A. In the event of war, they would have worked in collaboration with Tornado F3 aircraft, which would use their Foxhunter search radars to vector the radar-less Hawks against enemy targets. Such missions would have been flown by instructor pilots. Conversions were completed in 1986. With the fall of the Soviet Union and the end of the Cold War, RAF Hawks are no longer tasked with this role. Hawks were used also as "aggressors", simulating air combat with Tornado ADVs "

That's fairly readable as ZK023 on my monitor,a Hawk T2 that was delivered from Warton to Valley 29th June 2009.
Hope this helps you a bit.

Aggressor Hawks...

I do remember years ago whilst staying with the folks near Dolgellau, a short "duel" at high altitude between a Hawk and F-15. Said Hawk was definitely giving our American cousin a good run for his money...

Presumably though, this wasn't an "official" session
