One eye up one eye down

Okay well firstly, I am sorry if this is in the wrong forum... I am only a trainee PPL pilot.

Basically I got told that there is a helicopter that when training to fly it, you are taught how to move one eye upwards (looking out) and one eye down (looking at the instruments/glass panel/whatever)

1) is this possible?
2) can it be taught?
3) is their a name for it?
4) how do you learn?!

Thanks in advance
