I live near EMA but dont fly from there and I thought maybe you folks could shed some light on a question i have....
Whats the departure clearance going south off r/w 27?, looking at the aerad plates there seems to be little guidance.
Just wondering why I get woken up at 2am by vintage 727's etc. - of course im not complaining- just interested!

There are currently no SID's at EMA and so the only restrictions on departure are, on 27 to be past the end of the runway and at least 1500ft AGL. On 09 the restriction is past the end of the runway.
Normal Southerly airways departures go to SAPCO (near Hinckley) and initial clearance is usually to FL70 (if MAN has any EMA incoming) or FL90.
This means for my beast (modern overpowered quiet twin) a left turn at the end of the runway which keeps us well East of Melborne and away from Ashby and Coalville.
On 09 a right turn at 500ft (Company min turn height) takes us West of Loughborough, and East of Coalville.
I have seen plans for SID's that would take us on a SW heading off 27 bringing us much closer to Melbourne and between Ashby and Swadlincote and add a good 10 miles to our EMA SAPCO distance ( = an extra 100Kgs fuel)
There are simmilar plans for 09 taking us to the East of Loughborough.
ATC have recently taken to sending us off on a SW heading at night, roughly flying the proposed SID track.
