Globemaster At Northolt

Great to see this landing at Northolt at about 10.30 this morning. Even better when it had a missed approch, it was quite gusty i must admit but at least i see it twice.

Great landing...

Anyone have any info....

Thanks in advance...

Northolt website

I wondered if one was in this morning - heard the reverse thrust in Cowley. No doubt more can be expected this week.

Several visited at the time of Bush's farewell tour and one did a missed approach followed by such a low visual circuit that Ruislip residents rang the emergency services convinced they were witnessing a plane about to crash. Of course, the size of the plane against the usual biz-jets seen in the circuit would have played a part.

Fingers crossed we will see more missed approches over Ruislip then. It was fun watching it try again.

As is all well-known by now ... the two USAF C-17s on Saturday morning delivered two VH-60 Blackhawks in preparation for the visit of President Obama later this week for the G20 conference in London. They were on the ground for about 2-3 hours only, and both had gone by 1pm.

Prior to this, three US Army CH-47s arrived from Germany on Thursday afternoon.

Saturday lunchtime, the VH-60s were assembled for flight, and on Saturday evening they went flying with a pair of CH-47s. They went to Stansted and then to the Excel Centre in Docklands (where the G20 conf will be).

Nah! You all missed the point. This was a practice to make sure 'heavies' can use Northolt when it becomes Heathrows third runway.

The refueling station is already installed as is the signage pointing the way to the airfield
