low level hercules nr alfold
Hi all, can anyone enlighten me;
Last Monday afternoon (2nd March) travelling north on the A281 near Alfold in Surrey, two Hercules type aircraft passed v-low overhead flying approx NW.
One was the usual camo paint and the leading aircraft appeared to be grey - I was surprised to see them at what appeared to be little above the treetops, the pair flew on to roughly west of Dunsfold and banked SW, climbing away at the same time, seemed be to very low just to avoid traffic from Gatwick, or was there an exercise on that day?
Just curious!

Manstonman - Sounds very likely, too much of a coincidence otherwise?
I just wondered why they would be at such a low level over the countryside - no big deal I suppose, maybe thats just what they have to do in order to do the job of defending the UK!
Thanks for the nod though
