a/c allocation
this morning the agp went from stand 1,the gla stand 2,we had a/c on stands 13/16 plus 23/26,my point being the alc went from 24!wouldnt it make sense too use a/c "nearer "too each other in order of departure?is this a easyjet thing or too do with airport planners?many thanks in advance

They'd allocate each aeroplane a route the night before. Sometimes serviceability state affects route assignment, sometimes particular cabin configuration and other weird factors. Where the aeroplane parked on arrival last night is irrelevant, so that's the stand it has that morning. Towing to different stands costs and causes delays. Why worry what stand it is on- you either just send the pax there or get them to a gate and load them onto buses! Actual stand number is immaterial.

Route allocation for the aircraft is done by the airline's op's based in LTN. The a/c are parked at the relevent airport by airfield ground op's who do the stand allocation, they have nothing to do with airline op's. There two seperate entities.

When I went to Frankfurt with BA Saturday, they had Airbus, 757's on T5B and Normally thats all 747, 777 and 767. But becuase it was early morning and T5A was full of all the BA Airbus Shorthual they most likely alternated the rest of the morning flights to T5B becuase there was no room on there normal T5A.
Otherwise there would be chaos.

Ground ops is VERY complicated. Stands are all different with different seviceability, fuel hydrant, electrical supplies, parking restrictions, jetty availability and restrictions, pushback truck room to manoeuvre, type reservations etc. Then you have waves of operation, with shorthaul jets going out early, and planning to make maximum use of parking bays. It is a very sophisticated area just scheduling inadequate ground facilities let alone the aeroplanes themselves!

rainboe, with the upmost respect too you sir/madam.the stand number is pretty significant when your delivering bags too stand 16 then 30 and you may have 1 or even 2 pushbacks on the go and even without that factor still a distance too travel.it just gets a bit frustrating when your on such a tight time frame.kindest regards
