Anybody know the approx. time to command for someone joining now. The pilot list is large but is there a lack of people with the required experience levels?

Can you please honestly tell me the reason why not at the moment?
Tell the Maktoums that it will be good for EK to have few qualified girls in the flight deck. All the major airlines such as BA, UAL, Delta, American, etc are doing it now.

This is a "funny" part of the world where what is "normal" everywhere else is sometimes taboo. It takes a little getting used to.
Rumour has it that a female pilot did come for an interview once, and, was found suitable! She never got a starting date. Unfortunatley certain laws would have to change before women could be in a position to, for example sponsor their husbands' residential visas etc.

I suggest you take a look at TERMS AND ENDEARMENT. A few good words from CHECK 6.
