Smile Flight engineers?

Hi there
What are the requirements for becoming a Flight Engineer? Must one possess a Type rating to have a chance of getting a job?
regards

TwoDeadDOogs,

I think that these days you have posess a type rating and a fair bit of experience to land a job as an F/E.

Try looking at AIC 119/1998 and getting hold of General information document (GID)No 10.

Briefly
Open to experienced ground engineers with 3 years experience or
PPL holder or
RAF Air Eng with 400hours

100 hours Flt Eng training on first aircraft type.
ATPL Technical group passed including human perf.
Hope this helps.
