Shoreham and Headcorn both have great places to sit with a coffee and watch the aviation world go by

Fairoaks is good, though a little quiet.

Farnborough is busier, but don't know what the viewing is like there.

hi Farnborough viewing Is not that Good . Most Spotters gather by the
Fence near EELMOOR FLASH BRIDGE off the Aldershot to Fleet Road.
Another place is by the Fence and gates used as Public entry SBAC show
on the A325 Farnborough Road next to the Aviator Hotel do not stray
onto hotel land there security has requested spotters not to.
Weekends you can use the FAST Museum Area open 10am 4PM
Sat-sun well worth a visit. Northside by TAG Aviation nothing much
to be seen and Not worth the bother.

Blackbushe has a big carpark from which pretty much everything can be seen and a small cafe where you sit outside and watch the light/general aviation world go by

I would have to agree with Gulf4uk
Farnborough is not the greatest place to go spotting, the only times I go is when we have the Farnborough Airshow.

AeroMad

p.s Gulf4uk, You fogot to mention the Swan Pub

The Swan

HI

No I didnt forget it we cannot afford to use it now its been modernised .
Its All very very upmarket and Very Expensive. Shame but thats modern times.

And at BLACKBUSHE The local Lads are very Friendly and helpful.

Fairoaks caution the Natives are friendly but the chiefs are not . Do not
wander anywhere near the airside Hangers Be warned

Lasham : no Public access other than the gliding Club . Food and drink
is Excellent Very Friendly lot .

Stansted, although not a viewing area with facilities has got a grass area adjacent to the main runway that is frequented by spotters on a daily basis. Take a deck chair and ur set up, the police do the odd pass but dont bother you

This area is reached by heading towards the old side but rather than turn into the old terminal road continue on for approx 2-3 miles til you see cars parked on the right hand side of the road park there and walk thru the trees

Sandown Isle of Wight.

Lydd, Kent (aka "London Ashford").

Both have good cafes and viewing areas.

Does Sandown have a new cafe then? The old one was burnt down... but I'd be glad to know it's up and running again. Their fish and chips were historic!

Whoops!! Thanks, Heathrow Director - I flew to Sandown from Shoreham in September 2006, and enjoyed a snack in the Aviator bar and restaurant with good views of flying activities, before our return to Shoreham.

I had no idea that there was a disastrous fire in the premises in December 2007, which closed them down! Such a shame, there were many items of aviation interest on display in the premises, too.
