Unhappy Baggage theft

British Airways may install surveillance cameras across its entire fleet to try to stamp out luggage theft.

It follows a successful test at Charles de
Gaulle Airport in Paris, which saw 10 baggage
handlers arrested on suspicion of theft.
The cameras were placed in the hold of the
plane and, according to BA, they proved
successful in both catching people and acting
as a deterrent.

BA introduced the scheme because of the
persistent problems all airlines face from
baggage theft.

A BA spokesman said the airline had targeted
workers at Charles de Gaulle because there
had been a significant problem there.
"We had a record of quite a lot of theft
problems, and it worked," he said. "We are considering introducing it across the
fleet. "It's a tiny minority of baggage handlers that do this kind of thing and we want to prevent it.
"The best way to do this is to put cameras in
the baggage holds."

Red face

Never put anything valuable in checked baggage.

Never cover a suitcase with locks (it advertises there may be something valuable inside and only means your case gets "knifed" to open it)

That way there's nothing to nick - Problem solved

Thumbs up

Got my baggage "searched" by some the baggage handling mafia at LIN. Nothing stolen (guess there is no black market for referee equipment), but it sure is annoying.

Hey, why did the "tumbs up" appear? Must have clicked the wrong button...
