Question Lufthansa B707 SIM

Hey all,

Is the LH 707 SIM still working? If so for how long?

Thanks

Yes it is, I am a regular visitor. The old girl will probably be in service for some time yet as she has paid for herself time over. When the clever tech's that look after her give up though, she will probably be sold. The tech's actually manufacture the parts which you cannot purchase any more.
Rumour is that there may be a move to Bremen from FFT on the cards?

Frottles,

Thanks for the info...

Any idea if it'll stay running till this summer, or the end of the year?

I hear its one of 3 SIMs remaining in the world!

Yes it will,
We are already contracted for 5 slots per month this year and are in the process of agreeing next years dates too.
It is as you say, one of the few remaining sims however, I can think of much more glamorous locations to go for a sim check. That said, I have been known to entertain myself quite nicely in FFT!
Cheers

Question

Off the top of my head I believe there is one in the states and another in the mid-east but that is only an educated guess. I am going down to the sim mid feb to give a cx ride so i'll ask for you then if I remember?
By the way Smurfjet, why the interest. Are you currently strapping one of these ol'girls to your backside each day and if so for which outfit?
If you need more gen about the bigger picture feel free to ask.
Cheers Frottles.

Would like to get a few of the "new glass cockpit type" F/O's in the B707 SIM so they could realise what "flying" was about in the recent past. Wonder if they could keep the blue side up? Was on the 707 for ten years, wonderful aircraft and very reliable, but suffered a lot from airframe corrosion and stress cracking.

Hey Guys,

Thanks for the replies, I'd like to get a type rating (one day!)

If not then I'd just have to hurry and book an hour or 2 on this wonderful bird...

Cheers

Would like to get a few of the "old farts cockpit type" Capt's strapped into a modern FMS Trainer so they could realise what "flying" is all about today! Sometimes you really wonder, if they know what is going on!

Well, at least when the batteries run out mid-ocean the "old farts cockpit type" (sic) will be able to effect a safe recovery on the stby asi & altimeter!

I think Purdue university in Indiana has a 7oh7 sim as well, my buddy went to school there and he said he was in one.

Happiness is a warm DC-8, never seen one!
