Post Flights to Gran Canaria

Can anyone tell me what airlines offer scheduled flights to Gran Canaria from any London airports. Info seems a bit thin on the ground!

Thanks

Went there myself a few years back but I had to join the bucket and spade brigade on a charter, still I did get the jump seat on the way out.
Iberia have a scheduled offering via Madrid probably on an old 727. If you can get to another of the islands Binter offer inter island flights.
I flew to Teneriefe and back with them on a CN235 using Los Rodeos airport to make the trip more interesting.

Air 2000 operate flights from STN every Monday, think they still operate under a charter number although all the TFS flights are now under scheduled number.
I think you should be able to book seat only though. Their website is www.air2000.com.
They have just been awarded 2 Travel Weekly Globe Awards, Best UK Charter Airline and their tour operator First Choice have also been awarded Best All-inclusive Tour Operator. In addition to that, three months ago Air 2000 won the other prestigious Top Charter Airline Award at the TTG Travel Industry Awards.
So they should be good.

It may be of no use to you, but Go fly a scheduled service to Tenerife from STN.

I don't know how easy it is to island hop once you get there though!

Also, they are stopping the service quite soon.

Island hopping in the Canaries is pretty easy - there are quite reasonably priced and frequent flights (and ferries) going between Tenerife and Gran Canaria as well as other islands. If I remember correctly though, most of island hopping flights are from Tenerife North, whereas most international flights are from Tenerife South, which makes it a little inconvenient, as the distance between the two is something like 30 minutes by car (however I stand to be corrected). I think the ferry terminal in Tenerife is also near Tenerife North.

BirdStrike.

You are correct, all internal flights to from Tenerife are to the north airport. However it is well worth the 40-60 min drive to sit through the approach. Last time I did it, it was over the hills about 8-10k once over the airfield a long spiral with what felt like close-up views of the hills. Ending in low level over the houses untill touch down. Definately non standrd. Maybe they where just having a bit of fun

Why mess around going via TFS or MAD etc.

Just hop on one of many charters out of which ever airport you prefer (except LHR)
and your there in just over 4 hours at a reasonable rate too.

Enjoy

Thats all well and good but I want to only go down for 4 days, charters generally have weekly turnarounds which I dont want. Tenerife with GO, but then I have to get to LPA, does anyone know any direct scheduled flights into LPA from any UK airport?

I belive some of the charter companies go to the Canaries twice a week. But generally speaking, all the charter companies seem to operate in/out on the same days of the week. I believe many go to LPA on Saturdays and Wednesdays, but I stand to be corrected.

So, if Sat to Wed is not convenient, you could go direct by charter one way, and come back on scheduled via somewhere else, either via Madrid or 'Island Hop' to TFS for instance.

You could go from LHR to LPA via Madrid - LH seems to have some flights operated by British Midland / Spanair. You'd have to spend a bit of time in Madrid for the connecting flight though. Iberia and Air Europa does some via Madrid, too.
