Talking Aircraft charter... how..?

A good friend of mine has asked me to look into chartering him an aircraft to fly up to 40 people from Glasgow to Shannon and pick them up again a few days later...
I haven't the foggiest idea where to start - any ideas??

Cool

Call operators with aircraft around the size you are looking for, off the top of my head AWC,BAC,BWD,FLT,EAC,GIL, ask to speak to someone in the Commercial Department. Prices will depend on aircraft base, day of week and time of year but expect to pay anything between 10-20K total, if you need an urgent idea, or dont want the hassle of ringing round, contact an air charter broker who will indicate prices and likely avail for the whole market, Air Partner in LGW and Hunt & Palmer in LON are two of the largest.
Beware ATOL regulations if pax are paying for the cost of the journey individually, no worries if its a 'sole use' charter.

I've used a firm operating out of Stansted before now which were great and not that expensive, literally a one plane outfit. 'Course can't lay my hands on the name and number - if I track it down I'll get back to you.

You could try:

1st Charter based in Kent
01622 880188
Very swish - rock star stuff.

Also, why don't you ring Glasgow Airport Authority and see if they what small charter operators are based there.

Good luck!

CJ

Even better is to call a charter broker such as Air London in Crawley (ask for Emma - 01293 549555) or Air Charter (ask for Jon Cavalli - 01293 579191).

They'll do all the legwork for you, from their lists of suitable operators, check availability, price, liaison with the operator - and you pay no more than you would otherwise.

Thumbs up

You could try JetAir for this. I had some dealings with them in my previous career and they were very good.

Their number is 01293 614400

We've used them on numerous occasions in the UK and Worldwide and their rates were very reasonable.

Titan Airways at Stansted have a Shorts360 (38 pax) and ATR42s (46 pax), as well as BAe146s and a B737 available for charter.
Tel 01279 680616 and ask for commercial.

No, don't bother phoning Titan. They specialise in ready availability - the "Go Now" market. Therefore, they are heavily crewed, with people always on standby within 30 minutes.

Consequently you will almost always be able to bring Titan in if your aircraft goes t!ts up at the last moment. However, it also means that they are incredibly expensive for booking ahead.

Best advice of all is GO TO A BROKER.

Air London, Hunt & Palmer, Air Charter are the three biggest and best, and are all well-established. They'll ensure you won't get stitched up by some unscrupulous operator, and don't charge the charterer commission - it comes off the operator's price.

Hi Pinky,
Could always try British Midland Commuter in Aberdeen. We have SAAB 340s Embraer EMB-145s and BAe 146s. Call them on 01224 401 900.
Good luck.
Eff Oh.
