Wink Lyrics/poems

Evening all !!!

After seeing SMF's signature in Freight Dog forum, a thought popped on my mind to ask all and everyone for aviation related poems or lyrics that have knocked you for six sometimes.

Something, that made a mark or you think might impress the man/woman of your fancy (might come in handy sometimes). Even couple of lines will suffice

And please, try to keep it decent somehow.

Knowledge is powerrrr...

David Carradine sang this in the movie "Cloud Dancer" with Hoyt Axton after a mate spun in. Pretty good with solo guitar and blues harp accompanied by a few cold ones.....

There's nothing special in a man unless he knows we're all the same
A man has nothing till he learns all he gets is what he earns
There's no holding his head up high until he eats his humble pie
Tied to the ground by his own fears a man will sadly waste his years
Before he can rise up and fly he's got to be prepared to die
Poor man, do it all, trying hard to stand the fall
Doing his silly dance, born with only half a chance
Flying or moving on the earth, never knowing half his worth
Showing all his battle scars, reaching blindly for the stars
He knows he's got to see it through, he does the best he can
Proud, humble, dumb, wise, tough, tender man
...Come on everybody, now, give that old man a hand.....

Can raise goosebumps in the presence of enough alcohol. Helps to pull birds too as it supposedly shows the sensitive side.

Very good Skybiter !

Any more takers?

Skybiter mentioned two important things here in one sentence: pulling and sensitive side. Come on, it'll help you someday !

August 'Forty-Nine, North Montana
The hottest day on record the forest tinder dry
Lightening strikes in the mountains
I was crew chief at the jump base
I prepared the boys to fly
Pick the drop zone
C-47 comes in low
Feel the tap upon your leg that tells you go
See the circle of the fire down below
Fifteen of us dropped above the cold Missouri waters.

From "Cold Missouri Waters" by James Keelaghan.
It's about a jump on a forest fire that went terribly wrong. The fire crowned, and thirteen smoke jumpers burned to death when they couldn't outrun it.
Dunno why, but it gets to me.
