Scales

Revell make a plastic kit of a Boeing 747-400 at 1:144 Scale

The dimensions are L 49.0 cm, W 46.2 cm and H approx 19.5 cm, but what would the weight of the Aircraft Model be if it was weighed at the same scale of 1:144 at MTOW ?

The model costs about $ 40.00 what scale is that of the actual cost of a B747-400 ?

MTOW about 400 tonnes, scaling weight by volume you'd get a scale weight of 134 grammes, or about 5 oz. Probably not too far off the actual model weight.

Hard to know what to scale cost by; if you also use volume that $40 equates to about $120 million. Which is about half the list cost for a new -400, I believe. So to scale the cost by volume, it would be 1:180 or so.
