Latest on G-YMMM?

Hey all,

Could someonebody please tell me what the latest is on G-YMMM?

Last thing i saw, was that she was stored by the BA Hangar at LHR with no titles. Has most of the inside been taken out or do AAIB investigators still need to do a little more work?

I would appreciate any info that you could give me!

Happy spotting,

Er your profile should read SEN / EGMC mate.
Status quo with G-YMMM, speedmarque and tail fin removed, she sits outside the Engineering base near the 27L threshold.

And the Airframe - curtains.

G-YMMM

I read somewhere on the forum that the airframe is the property of the insurance company and not BA. The Tailfin was removed to keep the frame stable during strong wind as it was rocking the frame.

Why would they purchase the hull back from the insurers, and how much would it cost ? What will they do with it - spares ?

I cannot remember but a sum around about £1.6 millions was mentioned. This would not include the engines which were trashed. If this is the true sum then it was a great deal and could provide many times that figure in spares, some parts might even be sold to other airlines. Though, I believe a couple have already been cut in the States so there is no shortage.
