Buying an airband scanner
Hey all,
I am thiniking of buying an airband scanner!
However, i live near SEN which doesnt have alot of all the "big jet" traffic as you'll know. If i bought a decent scanner would i be able to listen to frequencies from LHR, STN, LGW, LTN, etc... without having an external attenae?
kind regards & happy spotting!

Your reception will depend on the hight of your antenna. Also make sure you have a "ground plane", usually a 16"x12" cookie sheet that you put your magnetic base antenna on. Or just a car roof.
So this is a long answer to your question. The answer is "no"!
Sorry

you would be able to hear lots of a/c in and outbound to all those airports and especially LCY where many a/c using the spear arrival fly right over sen. However I doubt you would hear anything other the southends tower unless you get a decent external aerial.
