EMIRATES DIVERT INTO BUDAPEST 29th July 08
Anyone know anything? Apparently one of the LHR - DXB flights which departed LHR on Tuesday evening diverted into Budapest with an electrical fault. Rumour has it that they were still in Budapest at 11:00 this morning.
(This comes from a friend of a friend who was on the flight)

EK6 from last night departed LHR 10:03pm, "arrived" 1:01am.
EK3028 left BUD 5.23pm and is currently En Route.
Given that EK3028 is not a regular flight it appears, would have to assume that its this flight with a 14hr 22min delay

I was in BUD last night and there was a 777 there on a remote stand. I didn't know of the incident, so I just thought it was being prepared for flight. That was at about 2100 30.7.08 LT.

In the Fourth Triennial International Aircraft Fire and Cabin Safety Reasearch Conference in 2004 there was an interesting presentation by Tom Phillips from ALPA who mentioned that according to operational experience the false alarm rate in smoke detection is 160 to 1.
