TOKYO -- A China Airlines (CAL) passenger jet traveling from Hokkaido, Japan to Taoyuan, Taiwan beg
an to experience engine problems just before 8 p.m. Thursday and was forced to make an emergency landing at Naha Airport in Okinawa Prefecture, the Japanese Kyodo News Agency reported.
None of the crew members or passengers were hurt in the incident, according to the report.
The news agency said that the pilot of the Boeing 737 noticed that the plane's instruments indicated that there was a problem with the right engine at about 7:50 p.m. about 160 kilometers east of Naha Airport.
The pilot decided to shut down the engine and radioed the airport to request permission to make an emergency landing.
CAL maintenance workers are currently checking the plane to try to determine the cause of the engine problems, according to the report.

Farrell, seeing the number of posts to your name, I guess that you should also consider googling those activities; although rock climbing, mountain biking, and trekking might not be so pleasant at 45 deg.

funny thing . CAL has an engine shutdown and divert and its thrown to the spotters balcony but let it happen in europe to any airline there and theres 20 pages on pprune?? haha.
Not a lot of Asian attention on pprune relative to Europe and the Americas I guess.
