Filton emergency tonight...

Anyone know of an emergency at Filton tonight?

Chatter on another website that roads are closed around the airfield and police informing drivers of a 'major incident'.

Can't see any threads, but direct me if I'm being blind.

Filton Emergency tonight

Broughton to Filton shuttle EZE 105 a J-41 with undercarriage problems was probably the incident. As Runway 09 was being used today failure to stop at the end of the runway would result in going straight across the A38.

Harrogate, You have done well to get Filton Twr on your scanner.

On my scanner I can't get further than BHX.

Regarding Filton

I was there. I am not a professional pilot, but I work for Royal Mail at the Bristol Mail Centre who live on the North side of the runway (and, I have just found your forum).

We knew something was up at the Mail Centre, last night, as we usually get notice when the airfield does emergency drills. I happened to be on lunch break as the scenario unfolded. The emergency vehicles at the Airfield took positions at the far (Concorde) end of the runway, together with an ambulance, and emergency vehicles were arriving via the A39 for around 20 minutes or so from 1815, mostly Fire Engines, and specialist equipment.

Two planes landed during this, the usual ones that do at this time. You get to pick up on this . The Police Helicopter, also based on site took off, and provided a beacon as it were as the plane in question came into land.

The A38 was closed, briefly, from around 1830, and the plane landed at around 1835 - perfect landing and uneventful - thank goodness!.
