I have always wondered what the normal rate of ascent and descent in fpm are for passenger jets.

Quite variable - down to 1000fpm or less at high levels, and up to 4-5000fpm at low level. All dependent on weight, a/c type, air temperature and climb speed to name a few! No easy answer.

Thanks for the response. Was really informative. There is alot more to this game than the passenger is aware of.
