1200 (zulu) today jet climbing westbound near Bath

Did anyone hear or see the a/c climbing out of Lyneham (?) today.
French A/F DC8 maybe?

I know AIN do a lot of military charters on their DC8s out of Brize
- could be them???

I was out and about in Chippenham about then spotted a C-5 climbing westbound out of Lyneham - awesome sight at it was pretty low

Sure it wasn't a C-17? They brought 4 dead troops back from Iraq into Lyneham instead of Brize the other day.

Pretty sure it was a Galaxy. No winglets, distinctive 'bullet' fairing at top of the 'T' tail and the noise was a blast from the past. No namby pamby quiet engines

DC8 RAF Lyneham

Anybody know what the DC8 is doing which goes into Lyneham nearly every day. very big anf very noisy by today's standards

A DC-8 Freighter departed Lyneham pre- 0900z on Monday morning.

It was probably an A300 Freighter that you saw departing shortly after 1500z - this was the only movement around 1500.


Both MOD contracted aircraft I believe.
