New tax regime to be intriduced by government

Hello all,
Just want to start a thread to discuss the new tax regime that the UK government want to introduce on EU flights. What are the thoughts of everyone on this. That would be much appreciated if some people involved in airline operations can post their thoughts! I am wondering whether it will slow down the expansion of the airline industry or not. Will this push airlines to go for "green fuels". Can actual engines be adapted to run with ethanol for example. If so do you think the government will then reduce taxes as carbon emissions will be reduced.
Thanks for your answers.
