EX Ba Aircraft used for Riot Training on Hounslow Heath

Hi All,

I am assuming that there will be some people here who are from Hounslow (either now or in the past) Am I imagining it, or was an ex BA Trident (or possibly a BAC 1-11) sent to the police riot training school on Hounslow Heath in the late 80's? Is it still there?
I am sure that I saw it when I was landing at LHR and was subsequently told the story behind it?

Actually it was Fox Kilo

Hi,

It was a Trident 2E, G-AVFK - she was used as an anti-terrorist training airframe by the Met. Police and, it was reported, by our 'masked friends' from Hereford.

She was later moved to RAF Valley in 1996; some speculate that this move was to provide easier access from the aforementioned English town near the Welsh border; but I thought I once read that they had their own Trident fuselage (not sure which one).

Anyway here she is in full Terrorist busting trim...

Thanks for that.

I remember the first time I saw it, flying into LHR over the Heath and thinking how strange it was.

Airliner in a wood?

Here is a link to a probable hijack & terrorist traning location

This is in Gilbert's Hill Wood near Hereford so I don't suppose it was flown in!
