Cap'n,
Do a search on airliners.net for a 737-800 with registration 3701. There are a number of pictures of it, all at Taiwanese locations apart from one of it departing on a test flight from Boeing Field in 1999.

I actually did just that,and noticed its only ever been photographed in taiwan...made me wonder if maybe its confined to ROC airspace? Thats actually what prompted my question!
