"I'm no Boeing fan really (give me a VC10 anyday) but that A380 really is one ugly son-of-a-b."

This is a joke, right ?

A380 Deliveries

The first A380 is currently scheduled for delivery to Singapore Airlines in November this year and is planned to enter service in December.

Virgin Atlantic have 6 on order with the first delivery in 2008 but there have been strong rumours that the order may be reduced or part order further delayed.

As it is an Airbus and its a double decker then the nickname Routemaster fits. As in " as aerodynamic as a"

A 380 Rumour

This is probably in the wrong place, but there is a rumour doing the rounds that the A380 ( nickname still open to debate, but routemaster looks good to me) is due into MAN for some sort of trials next Saturday (10th June)

Can anyone give credence to this, I normally avoid Saturday overtime, but I might make an exception if that thing is coming.

airbus name

hi

Forgot to add my comment on the Name : why do we need one at all ?
all the Airbus types seem to have kept there type Names A340 319 320
does anyone use a Name ? ATP is all that ever got called 707 never
heard it called anything Else , still they named the Eurofighter "TYPHOON"
I was already calling it EUROCRAPPER . the Real TYPHOON was a great
Aircraft this thing is not Worthy so Far to use it untill it proves itself but
i expect and hope RAF Members on here will jump in and give us a
for it cos its mine and Your Tax paying for it

Par for the course...

>>...sees the least amount of obstacles on its way...>>

It would certainly appear that the obstacles the A380 has encountered have been quite a few...

Overweight
Late
Over budget?
Cancelled orders.

A white elephant if there even was one...
Brabazon, anyone?

First 3 yes; but no orders cancelled as yet (in the public domain at least).

Don't crow too soon 411A, the 787 is only a paper aeroplane currently. Plenty of time for it to have problems.

The A380-900 is the one a lot of people reckon will be the real winner, but I guess that Airbus want to regain the confidence of the airlines before launching that version

Any news about Malaysian's order for the A380? I read a few days ago it was in danger due to their financial situation. Now it the time for BA to show their mettle and order the <'heads' may have rolled but this is family web site> A380 (if MAS drop out) abnd inject some life into the programme.

I'm sorry, but why on earth should BA order the A380 just to dig Airbus out of a hole? Their responsibility is towards their shareholders, not their suppliers.

Maybe Dan-Air 87 has forgotten they are not a nationalised airline anymore

Whilst it would be nice to see an order for the A380 from BA I'm not sure it fits with their current planning which seems to be for more 777 sized aircraft.

So all those Boeing supporters who were ridiculing the need for another large aircraft, and suggesting that Airbus had got it sooooo wrong, how do you explain the news that Boeing is looking to stretch the 747-800 to just under 500 seat capacity??

Maybe your blind faith in the anti Airbus publicity of Boeing is coming back to haunt you!!
