I don't think OW get total control of T3, AA and CX will stay there but there will be a lot of the rest who fly long haul there too. Without substantial rebuilding that isn't going to happen any time soon, T2 would not work for the number of 747's or the MH and VS A380's for which gates are now being built at T3. SQ are not moving quickly to T1 either - presumably because of the gate issue and their A380's but they will go eventually.

Before anyone takes it over it must surely be refurbished as it is a sh----le of the first order. As a key terminal it is a disgrace, like much of the rest of LHR.

The latest info we have is the same as blackwidow.

Enabling work has already started for the thorough redesign of T1 stands/taxiways.

Heathrow T4

The SkyTeam airlines at Heathrow are: Air France (T2), KLM (T4), Alitalia (T2), CSA (T2), KAL (T3). Northwest, Delta & Continental fly into Gatwick. Areomexico doesn't fly direct to UK.

Blackwidow, your statement concurs with what I've heard - and that is from the shoe polisher guys in T1.

I wasn't too happy with this. There have been a couple of times when BA/BMI have had to cancel at short notice. It has been possible to quickly transfer across to the other airline and fly to a domestic destination on a Friday evening. I don't rate my chances on a T1<->T5 swap on a Friday PM, it will be quicker to go to London and Kings Cross / Euston.

The shoe polisher was more concerned about the loss of trade due to regular BA domestic commuters leaving as Star Alliance international pax won't be stopping for a polish.

So now he has the challenge of maintaining the business and expanding to T5 - and that's if he's invited to tender.

I'm sure it will all work out OK, but I was quite surprised at the ramifications of the casual question "So, I see BA are to relocate to T5..."
